Start with the actual item
Before writing, establish what the item is. Check the brand, garment type, size, material, colour, model or product line where identifiable, and any product codes or labels that help distinguish it.
If you are uncertain about a detail, do not present a guess as fact. An accurate simpler listing is better than a detailed but incorrect one.
Write a title for the buyer who is searching
Use the most useful identifying information naturally. Brand, item type, model or style, size and a genuinely important characteristic can all help where relevant.
Brand + identifiable item/style + key feature + size
The exact order will vary. The purpose is clarity, not filling every available character with repeated keywords.
Avoid unrelated trend terms, inaccurate brand references or characteristics the item does not have. Relevance helps the right buyer more than keyword volume.
Use photographs to answer questions
Show the actual item clearly. Include enough views for a buyer to assess the front, back, important details, labels and condition. Photograph flaws rather than relying on a vague sentence in the description.
Good presentation can make the listing easier to understand, but it should not misrepresent the item. If you use an additional lifestyle or model image, the real item photographs should remain clear and available so buyers can judge what they are purchasing.
Describe condition specifically
“Good condition” is less useful than explaining the observable condition. Mention wear, marks, bobbling, fading, damage, repairs or alterations where relevant.
Could a reasonable buyer receive the item and say an important visible issue was missing from your description or photographs? If so, improve the listing before publishing.
Add measurements when they help
Label sizing does not always tell the whole story, particularly for older clothing or brands with different fits. Useful measurements can reduce uncertainty for buyers where fit matters.
State how you measured if ambiguity is possible, and do not claim precision beyond what your measurement supports.
Include material and useful product details
Fabric composition, model information, product codes and distinctive features can matter to buyers and can also distinguish your item from similar products. Use information from the actual labels or reliable identification rather than assumptions based on appearance.
Keep the description useful
A buyer normally needs to know what the item is, its size or relevant dimensions, condition, useful material or model details and anything unusual they should know before purchasing.
You do not need paragraphs of generic adjectives. “Amazing”, “stunning” and “must-have” add less value than accurate information a buyer can use.
Price the listing separately from writing it
A persuasive description does not create market value. Price using comparable evidence and condition rather than writing a stronger description and assuming that justifies a higher figure.

Check the platform fields as carefully as the description
Category, brand, size, condition and other structured fields can be just as important as your prose. Choose them accurately. Do not use a misleading category simply because you think it may produce more views.
Before you publish
- Confirm the title describes the correct item.
- Check the category, brand, size and condition fields.
- Make sure photographs show the actual item and important details.
- Disclose relevant flaws clearly.
- Add useful measurements or material details where appropriate.
- Remove unsupported claims and irrelevant keywords.
- Check your price against current relevant evidence.
Vinted's listing fields, rules and features can change, so check the current platform requirements when publishing rather than relying on an old guide for platform-specific policy.
